Shoulder Arthroscopy
A miniature camera and instruments enter the shoulder through tiny portals to diagnose and treat tears, instability, impingement and inflammation — with smaller scars and faster recovery.
What is Shoulder Arthroscopy?
Shoulder Arthroscopy is a versatile minimally invasive technique using a small fibre-optic camera and specialised instruments inserted through 5-millimetre portals to inspect and treat virtually every internal shoulder structure. Indications include rotator cuff tears, labral and SLAP lesions, biceps tendon disorders, subacromial impingement, anterior or multidirectional instability, frozen shoulder, loose bodies and chondral damage. Performed under regional or general anaesthesia as same-day or single-night surgery. Dr. Hithesh performs diagnostic and therapeutic shoulder arthroscopy in Hyderabad as the foundation of modern minimally invasive shoulder care, delivering excellent functional outcomes.
How the Procedure Works
Anaesthesia & Positioning
Regional interscalene block plus general anaesthesia; the patient is positioned in beach-chair or lateral decubitus configuration.
Camera Entry
A 5-millimetre arthroscopic camera enters through the posterior portal, providing magnified visualisation of all shoulder structures clearly.
Systematic Inspection
Glenohumeral joint, rotator cuff, subacromial space and biceps tendon are systematically inspected for any internal abnormalities or pathology.
Targeted Treatment
Identified problems — cuff repair, labral repair, biceps tenodesis, decompression or capsular release — are addressed through additional working portals.
Closure & Rehabilitation
Portals are closed with sutures or steri-strips; sling support, structured physiotherapy and graded motion ensure complete shoulder recovery.
Outcomes
Who Needs This Treatment?
- →Allows direct, magnified visualisation of every internal shoulder structure
- →Treats multiple shoulder problems through the same small keyhole portals
- →Three or four tiny portals leave minimal scarring after wound healing
- →Same-day or single-night admission keeps disruption short overall
- →Significantly less surgical trauma than traditional open shoulder surgery
- →Suitable for cuff repair, labral repair, instability and frozen shoulder
Shoulder arthroscopy lets us address virtually every internal shoulder problem through three tiny portals — diagnose, repair and reconstruct, all in one elegant operation. It's hard to imagine modern shoulder care without it.
