Knee Arthroscopy
A miniature camera and instruments enter the knee through tiny portals to diagnose and treat ligament, cartilage, meniscus and joint surface problems with minimal trauma and quick recovery.
What is Knee Arthroscopy?
Knee Arthroscopy is a versatile minimally invasive technique that uses a small fibre-optic camera and specialised instruments inserted through 5-millimetre portals to inspect and treat virtually every internal knee structure. Indications span meniscal tears, cruciate and collateral ligament injuries, focal cartilage damage, loose bodies, synovial inflammation, plica syndrome and unexplained chronic pain. The procedure is performed as same-day surgery under regional or general anaesthesia. Dr. Hithesh performs diagnostic and therapeutic knee arthroscopy in Hyderabad as the foundation of modern minimally invasive knee care, with outstanding clinical outcomes.
How the Procedure Works
Anaesthesia & Setup
Spinal, regional or general anaesthesia is administered; the leg is positioned on a leg-holder with tourniquet inflation.
Camera Entry
A 5-millimetre arthroscopic camera enters through the antero-lateral portal, providing magnified visualisation of all knee structures.
Systematic Inspection
Medial, lateral, patellofemoral and intercondylar compartments are systematically inspected for any internal abnormalities or pathology.
Targeted Treatment
Identified problems — meniscus, cartilage, loose bodies or synovitis — are addressed through additional working portals as needed.
Closure & Mobilisation
Portals are closed with sutures or steri-strips; same-day walking and a structured progressive rehabilitation programme begin.
Outcomes
Who Needs This Treatment?
- →Allows direct, magnified visualisation of every internal knee structure
- →Treats multiple intra-articular problems through the same small portals
- →Three tiny portal sites with minimal pain and very small scars
- →Same-day discharge keeps hospital stay and disruption short overall
- →Walking begins on operation day with quick return to office work
- →Significantly less surgical trauma than traditional open knee surgery
Arthroscopy turned knee surgery into precision craftsmanship. Through three tiny portals we can diagnose and treat almost every internal knee problem — and patients walk out the same day with their joint quietly restored.
